Last Thursday, 3rd November 2022, a meeting took place in the town hall of Iznalloz, chaired by its mayor, Mariano Lorente García, following an invitation to the coordinator of the LIFE LYNXCONNECT Project, Javier Salcedo, by the president, Francisco Córdoba, and members of the Faucena preserve, to explain to this group and resolve some doubts about the new reintroductions of Iberian lynx that the LIFE LYNXCONNECT project is contemplating for the Sierra Arana area.
The mayor showed his interest in and support for the project, expressing how beneficial it could be for the municipality and assuring that the arrival of the Iberian lynx in Sierra Arana does not imply any restriction on hunting and the traditional enjoyment of the area by its residents.
This was endorsed by the coordinator of LYNXCONNET, who responded to all doubts, assuring that the arrival of the lynx does not imply or generate any nuisance, nor a decrease in rabbit populations.
J. Salcedo also reported on the imminent start of work on the A-308, which will minimise the risks posed by accidents involving wild animals, the Project for the Improvement of Ecological Connectivity in the Road Infrastructures of Granada has been drawn up.
From the Project we would like to thank the Mayor and the members of the Faucena reserve for their collaboration.
