February 10, 2026
On 27 and 28 April, the LIFE LYNXCONNECT project organised an information session with a group of journalists from various media outlets in Spain and Portugal in the Valdecigüeña reintroduction area and the Matachel reintroduction area, with the aim of giving these professionals first-hand knowledge of the actions carried out by the project in this area.
Germán Puebla Ovando, Director General of Sustainability for the Regional Government of Extremadura, and María Jesús Palacios, Co-Director for Extremadura of the LIFE LYNXCONNECT project, Regional Government of Extremadura. On both days, they analysed with the guests the results of the Iberian lynx population in Extremadura, the main threats to the species at present, as well as future actions aimed at ensuring the connection between the populations in the different areas distributed throughout the Peninsula.
On the second day, they were able to attend the release of ‘Virgula’ from the CCLI in Silves, Portugal. They also visited the actions carried out by the project in this area in the field, thus gaining a more complete overview of the LIFE LYNCONNECT project.
