In Portugal, under the LIFE LYNXCONNECT project, all actions aimed at reintroduction were designed with the utmost respect for local populations and were planned to be understood and supported by them and designed to be in line with the traditional and sustainable uses of the areas covered.

They are also designed to generate positive economic impacts. These impacts translate into direct and indirect jobs, either through small local businesses associated with gastronomy, nature tourism (nature photography or hiking) and rural tourism, or through small and medium-sized enterprises in the agro-forestry and hunting sectors, at regional or national level, which depend on renewable natural resources, such as cork, and which contribute to the valorisation and promotion of the Mediterranean cork oak forest.
