The Consejería de Fomento, infraestructuras y Ordenación del Territorio is an organism of the Junta de Andalucía with exclusive competence on highways and roads whose itinerary is entirely within the Andalusian territory, as well as in the matter of infrastructures of public domain and easements. Therefore, the project’s defragmentation measures to be carried out in Andalusia require the collaboration and authorisation of the Consejería.
The Dirección General de Infraestructuras is responsible for the planning, management and development of roads and roads infrastructures.
In particular, it is responsible for the following functions:
- Drawing up, development and monitoring plans and programmes for roads and roads infrastructures in the region, within the framework of the general infrastructure planning established by the Secretaría General de Infraestructuras, Movilidad y Ordenación del Territorio.
- Preparation of studies and regulations on the design, construction, maintenance and operation of roads and roads infrastructures.
- The annual programming of investments, studies, projects, and works for roads and road infrastructures under the economic and financial coordination of the Vice-Consejero.
- The construction, maintenance and operation of roads and road infrastructures under the jurisdiction of the Autonomous Community.
- The promotion and improvement of the landscape quality of roads and road infrastructures in Andalusia.
- The protection and management of the public road domain, as well as the elaboration of sectoral reports on plans, studies and projects which affect it.
