ADENEX, as a partner of the LIFE LYNXCONNECT Project, will resume the informative campaign touring different Educational Centres in Extremadura during 2025.
The aim is to raise awareness of the value of the Iberian Lynx (Lynx pardinus) as a key species in Mediterranean systems and to inform students about the most important aspects related to the conservation of this species and the work that has been carried out since the LIFE LYNXCONNECT Project began, especially some of the progress that has been made since it began. Some as important as the reintroduction of specimens in the region of Murcia or in the province of Granada, the natural dispersal of specimens born in the wild or the fact that there are currently more than 2,000 lynxes roaming the Iberian Peninsula.
All these advances must be made known to society due to their great importance. For this reason, over the next few months we will continue to visit educational centres in various areas of Extremadura, such as Almaraz, Jarandilla de la Vera, Valle de la Serena, Malcocinado, Bienvenida, Fuente del Arco, among other corners of our Autonomous Community, to carry out these informative activities.
The activities are carried out through a participative and investigative methodology so that the students learn about the objectives and actions of the project aimed at guaranteeing the recovery of this species in the Iberian territory. At the same time, they receive accurate and up-to-date information on aspects of the biology and ecology of the Iberian Lynx (Lynxpardinus), as well as its main threats and the measures that have been carried out to date.
The language and complexity of the talks is adapted according to the educational level: primary, secondary and the activities always end with a dynamic or educational game that helps the students to complete and reinforce what they have learnt during the talks in a fun and entertaining way.
Since the start of the informative campaign within the framework of the LIFE LYNXCONNECT Project, and to date, more than 3,000 schoolchildren from all over Extremadura have taken part.
