Inaugurated in Lisbon ‘The Lynx in the Peninsula – Connecting Territories and Consolidating Populations ’

The exhibition ‘The Lynx in the Peninsula – Connecting Territories and Consolidating Populations’, promoted by CIMBAL – Comunidade Intermunicipal do Baixo do Alentejo, within the scope of the LIFE LYNXCONNECT project, was inaugurated last Thursday 25th July at 19:00 hours at CASA DO ALENTEJO, in Lisbon.
The event was attended by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho. The event was presented by Mr. Manuel Alberto Verdugo, President of the Board of Directors of CASA DO ALENTEJO. CIMBAL was represented by Mr. Fernando Romba and part of the LYNXCONNECT team and on behalf of ICNF was present Mrs. DRCNF-Alentejo and the Project Manager Mr. Joao Alves, accompanied by Margarida Fernandes. From Portugal Infrastructure attended Ms. Ana Cristina Martins and a representative of the coordinating beneficiary, Junta de Andalucía, was also present.
The exhibition has been developed by CIMBAL, partner of the LIFE LYNXCONNECT project, with the technical and scientific support of ICNF – Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e das Florestas, I.P.
The aim of the exhibition is to present to Portuguese society the work carried out, in progress and planned for the future in the field of Iberian lynx conservation. The informative aspect of this initiative will be developed in the 13 municipalities that make up CIMBAL, as well as in three municipalities of the Algarve (Alcoutim, Tavira and Silves) and in Lisbon.
From LIFE LYNXCONNECT a special thanks to Mr. Manuel Alberto Verdugo, President of the Board of Directors of CASA DO ALENTEJO, for his support and generosity that has allowed the Project to be present in this unique Alentejo space in Lisbon.
The exhibition will be open to the public at CASA DO ALENTEJO, in Lisbon, from 22 July to 31 August 2024.
