Works on CM-410 and CM-403 in Toledo within the LIFE LYNXCONNECT actions.

The Consejería de Fomento de la Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha has started in the first months of the year the defragmentation works on the CM 410 and CM 403 roads as they pass through the Iberian lynx presence area of Montes de Toledo, financed by the LIFE LYNXCONNECT project.
These stretches of road are the most conflictive points where the highest mortality of Iberian lynx specimens by roadkill occurs in the region and their completion under the LIFE LYNXCONNECT project will significantly reduce this risk.
The works were visited at the end of April by the Head of Service of the General Directorate of Roads of the Regional Ministry of Public Works together with those responsible for the Natural Spaces Service of the Regional Ministry of Sustainable Development, who expressed their satisfaction at being able to undertake these works in a coordinated manner, putting a stop to the incessant dripping of carcasses that this point has been enduring since the release of specimens began through actions included in the predecessor of this project, the LIFE Iberlince project.
The action involves the collaboration of the private owners of the land adjacent to the roads, who have sometimes made their interests and even their land available for the conservation of the species. This type of public-private collaboration, which the LIFE project encourages and protects, is the formula that is allowing these reintroduction areas to become the most important areas of stable presence of the Iberian lynx.
The investment of the work is close to 500.000 € and last April almost 1/3 of the total work had been executed and is expected to be completed by the middle of next June.
