Last November, an international meeting took place in Mertola (Portugal), bringing together European experts in the study and conservation of the wildcat, the EurWildCat Meeting (24-26 Nov).
EurWildCat is a scientific network to promote collaboration and data exchange in research on the ecology of the European wildcat (Felis silvestris).
The organisation invited the LIFE LYNXCONNECT project to present the keys to success in the recovery of the Iberian lynx, with the aim of extracting aspects applicable to wildcat conservation.
The conference dealt with aspects related to the evolution of wildcat populations in Europe, the problem of hybridisation with domestic cats and the adoption of measures to avoid being run over. There was also space to discuss aspects of connectivity between Eurasian Lynx populations.LIFE LYNXCONNET in EurWildCat Meeting
