The fourth meeting with communicators and journalists took place in Murcia on 31 May and 1 June.
A group of journalists travelled to the area with the aim of learning first-hand about the actions carried out by the project in this area, where ‘Urtsu’, a female lynx reintroduced as part of the LIFE LYNXCONNECT Project, has given birth to three cubs. This is the first birth in the region, an event that undoubtedly marks a milestone in the conservation of the Iberian lynx.
We were accompanied by Miguel Ángel Ruiz from La Verdad, Eva Rull from La Razón, Marta Negrillo from Diario ABC, Sandra Monteverde from ECOticias and Paula Bolaños from Grupo Joly, among others.
They visited the El Valle Wildlife Recovery Centre. Accompanied by technicians and members of the CRFS team, they first learned about the functions of the centre and some of its members, as well as the area where Iberian lynxes are treated when they are brought in: the X-ray area, operating theatre, etc.
In addition, the participants in this workshop were able to meet with Dr. Pedro Piñero, director of the Quibas site, who gave an interesting overview of the importance of the site and one of its most iconic discoveries: an Iberian lynx over a million years old, making it the oldest in the world.
