The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA) is responsible for planning, designing, constructing, mainteining and operating state roads to provide all citizens with adequate public road service.

These infrastructures play a decisive socio-economic role as approximately 90% of the internal traffic of people and goods moves by this means. For this reason, we are working to create an extensive, high-quality network, wiyh especial attention to road conservation and improving road safety. To this end, we are building new motorways to provide the backbone of the Spanish territory, improving accessibility, comfort and speed of communications, and increasing road safety compared to the old national roads.

Among other measures, improvements to the road network are envisaged to improve the connectivity of the different ecosystems in which the network of state roads and dual carriageways is located.
