The Agencia de Medio Ambiente y Agua de Andalucía (AMAyA) is the Andalusian Government agency dedicated to managing and implementing the environmental and territorial policies established and designed by the Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Desarrollo Sostenible.
AMAyA is the instrumental body of the Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Desarrollo Sostenible for the implementation of the policies of the Regional Government of Andalusia in the field of environment, water and sustainable development, following the programmatic lines established in the Andalusian and European strategies with the 2020 horizon.
nder these attributions, one of AMAyA’s goals is to promote the connection of the existing lynx populations in Andalusia to maintain the greatest possible genetic diversity in each population. This action prevents one of the current threats to the Iberian Lynx (the low genetic variability of the species).
AMAyA has most of the experience in the management and handling of Iberian Lynx populations in Andalusia, as well as a fluid and constant relationship with the people who live with the Iberian Lynx in Andalusia.
