More than 2,000 lynx roam the Iberian Peninsula. CENSUS 2023.
May 16, 2024
The Iberian lynx population has grown exponentially since work began in 2002 to prevent the extinction of the species.
The increase in the number of individuals and the area occupied has occurred in a relatively “orderly” manner during this work, both in the areas remaining in 2002 and in those that have been created through reintroduction. However, as is to be expected with a species such as the Iberian lynx, an indeterminate number of specimens have dispersed throughout the Iberian Peninsula, some even settling in areas not initially contemplated by the conservation work on the species.
